Talk Climate: Multipy Your Impact
Training Program

Learn how to get more people to support climate solutions and take action

Influencing others can be difficult

Convincing other people can feel frustrating and may lead to conflict. In the climate context, there are psychological reasons why it is even more difficult to generate support and lead people to take action.

The way that we talk about climate change can accidentally push people away, or can strategically bring people on board.

Align your conversations with research

By taking an approach that is aligned with the latest research on climate psychology and human behavior, we can be sure to avoid the common conversational techniques that backfire in the climate context.

The Talk Climate: Multiply Your Impact training program is designed to teach you conversational skills that are known to work in the tumultuous climate space.

Learn new skills and gain the confidence to use them.

This program will teach you a compassion-first approach that reduces pressure and increases long-term change in their mindset.

This program will not teach you about climate change, but you don’t need that to guide someone to consider climate action. During the training you will identify exactly which scientific details you need to incorporate into your approach.

In a small group of other people like you, you’ll practice the basic and advanced tools, and gain the skills you need to succeed in the real world.

“The program is helpful for novices as much as for professionals working in the climate field.”

Program Details

What will I learn?

Participants will receive training on the best practices for successful conversations that bring others on board to support climate solutions.

Below is a brief list of what participants can expect to takeaway from this program:

  • Easy-to-follow methods to motivate more people to support climate solutions.

  • Informal conversation techniques that can be adapted to formal discussions, like talking to your boss at work.

  • Scripts adapted to your own values.

  • Personalized techniques to keep the conversation calm.

  • New skills to create effective conversations that have a real impact.

The training will not teach you climate science. This is a training focused on communications and human relations techniques. And don’t worry if you don’t know much about climate science. That’s not a prerequisite to take this training. You can be surprisingly influential using the tools taught in this program.

The training program includes dedicated time to practice the strategies in a safe space with like-minded people. The sense of community is a strength of the program, as you’ll get to hear from and interact with other people who are working toward the same goals as you.

By the end of the training, our past participants regularly tell us they feel more confident about their ability to influence others to support climate initiatives!

And you will too!

Can I learn this elsewhere?

No. This program was developed to transform very scattered approaches and information into a single practical training.

The unique strengths of this program are:

  • The incorporation of the latest research from leading experts in the diverse fields of climate psychology, persuasion, human behavior in the climate context, diplomacy, and leadership development.

  • A unique combination of techniques and tools, adapted to the unique context of the climate crisis.

  • A series of practical techniques that are easy to learn and implement.

  • Live discussions and time to practice in a safe environment with like-minded individuals.

  • Tools that help you go beyond simply talking about climate change, so that you become an influencer, scaling up and motivating climate action in those around you.

Who is this training for?

People who wish to engage or influence others in solving the climate crisis and taking climate action.

People who have ended up in arguments or dead-ends when trying to persuade others to support climate solutions.

People with jobs in climate policy, research, sales or communication.

Generally: anyone who wishes to convince others in one-on-one conversations in a calm, but effective way.

Do I need to know the science of climate change?

No, not at all! No background knowledge is necessary. Come as you are.

This program teaches you to be convincing without needing to know about climate science. And, during this program, if you decide to add some science into your approach, you’ll have a chance to identify what specific information you are ready to learn about. Deciding this later has an advantage in that you can focus on learning only the key details that will support your approach.

How many people will participate?

The program will take place with a maximum of 15 people.

Where will this take place?

All live sessions will be held online in live Zoom meetings, with discussion, paired role play and feedback. The bonus videos and other content can be found in our online course platform.

Will there be a recording?

All the session presentations will be pre-recorded and available to registered participants.

However, one of the core strengths of this training program is the time in every session to practice the new skills in small groups, or one-on-one.

There is discussion, feedback and time for questions. These interactions help participants build their capacity to use the information provided during the presentations, and it solidifies the learning.

We encourage your participation in every session.
